Tips For Writing Letters To Veterans & Active Military

Updated: Jul 28

Writing letters to veterans or active military is always a nice touch. We include hand written notes in all of our packages to troops deployed overseas and also partner with organizations for the elderly to ensure that older veterans get messages of thanks on Veterans Day and Memorial Day. Letter writing can be used for all grade levels! Younger students love to decorate cards while older students can create more thoughtful messages. Below are some example messages for older students.

Things to Remember

  1. Thank them for their service.

  2. Be positive.

  3. Let them know you support them.

  4. Your letters don’t have to be long, just write from the heart.

  5. Share why you volunteer.

  6. Only sign your first name.

Example Messages

Greetings,

Hope this note finds you well.

I am a 10th grade high school student and want to say thank you for making our world a safer place.

Sincerely,

Paul
